When you are about to start using the Android phone, the first requirement is to startup your phone for which you are required to go through the following steps:

Using the Existing Google Account

Step: 1
You are required to associate your Android phone with a Google account. In case of G1, please click Android logo and a brief description would appear asking you for the Google account.

Step: 2
Here, touch ‘Next’ where you would be asked; if you want to use existing Google account or want to create a new one.

Step: 3
If you want to use the existing account, simply touch the ‘Sign In’ button.

Step: 4
Enter your username and password and touch the ‘Sign In’ button again.

And you would be using the existing Google account to startup your mobile account. Now, you would receive the notification of confirmation that your Google account is now associated with your Android phone.

If you typed the wrong username and/or password, you would either required to retype it or create a new account.

Creating a New Google Account

If you do not have the Google account or you want to start with fresh account, follow these steps:

Step: 1
Tap the Create button.

Step :2
Enter the following data and tap Next:

-      First name
-      Last name
-      Username

Step: 4
If you cannot avail your choice of a username, type new username or may select from some alternative usernames, generated automatically, by sliding your finger up and down the list to scroll through it. Tap the alternative and tap Next.

Step: 5
Here you are required to enter a password and set up a security question which is required for you in case you forgot your password in future. Then tap Create.

Tips for the Password

1. 1.   It must be about 8 character long minimum
2. 2.   A good and acceptable password must be a mix of:
   1. a.   Uppercase
   2. b.   Lowercase letters
   3. c.   Must not be a real word
   4. d.   Must consist of both numbers and special characters in addition to letters
      

Step: 6
Here you are required to read through the Google Terms of Service and  touch I agree, and tap Next.

Step: 7
After the phone communication with Google’s servers is complete, enter the text displayed in the CAPTCHA and touch Next.

Step: 8
Touch Finish and the initial setup at your Android phone is complete.
