Keeping pace with the Windows 8 of Microsoft, Mozilla has also released model of an unnamed version of Firefox, seeking to design one browser for the desktop and mobile devices. Mozilla initiative is to face harsh competition with Google’s Chrome for Android beta who are also working to develop browser version to function with both the desktops and mobile devices.
As elaborated by Madhava Enros in the presentation by Mozilla’s mobile UI lead, the project applies the Australis design of the Mozilla to:
- Windows 8 PCs
- Macs
- iOS
- Android.
Enros emphasize on the Mozilla focus on ‘soft textures’ and ‘smooth curves’ by applying the technology of:
- Browser’s rounded tabs
- Simplified dropdown menus
- Navigation bar.
The Mozilla project for the new version of Firefox, is a part of Kilimanjaro Initiative. The new styled platform will combine the backend improvements, such as, expanded app support and speed enhancements.
No arrival date for the new version of Firefox is available but it is expected that it may be release around the time when Windows 8 may be release. i.e. in October of November this year.
